Last week, I returned to my love of monochromatic fashion and single-hue style. This bold and powerful fit reminds me of my purposes here- to be a conversation starter, thought provoker and change agent to combat textile waste while transforming and empowering communities with the tools to look at their clothes and their connection to the environment differently. According to Grow NYC, New York City’ has no landfills or incinerators, yet residents produce 12,000 tons of waste every day and the numbers ares rising.
The U.S. discards between 10-20 million tons of textile annually, (Yes, annually!) With the rapidly growing fashion industry, “my little thing” has always been to shop secondhand first. Thrifting, swapping, recycling, donating, reconstructing and even composting textiles are all ways to say, “NO, I will no longer add to the seemingly overlooked landfill waste issues because I care world I live in.
A small shift in our thoughts can make a life changing difference.

Fun Fact: I am intermediately fluent in American Sign Language and apparently during this shoot I subconsciously intended to share this post in more tongues than one. Didn’t realize this until editing photos but the above sign means “more.” More life, love, more consciousness.
